    Default Cutting fibreglass

    Dear all,

    I have a cubbyhouse that is plywood clad with a fibreglass material which is about 5 mm thick. Is it dangerous to cut fibreglass and what sort of protection should be worn? As the cubbyhouse is no longer needed I will be demolishing it, so maybe there's another way to break it down.

    Wear a decent partical half face mask(not those **** paper things), if you have sensitive skin cover up as F/G makes very floaty dust/fibres or you'll be real itchy and open weave clothes are no good...
    Cut it with a very coarse blade, a chainsaw will make quick work of it, a small amount of water while cutting will help keep the dust to a minimum.

    Thanks, Harry, even with clothes protection still very itchy stuff, any ideas on how to stop the itching?

    Err... pay someone else to do it!
    If its affecting you badly buy some of those disposable full body suits that they use for spray painting and stuff.

    Wish I had payed someone else to do it, too late I've done the job, I thought there might be a cream that I could use, must look in the workshop, wonder if that WD40 will help, it's suppose to help in everything else....
