Boredom in the "old days".
What did our parents do to kill boredom
in the "old days" before Facebook and the Internet?
I do not know so I asked my 26 brothers and sisters
but they did not know either.

Come on Allan, your memory can't be that bad. I'm a couple of years younger than you and I can remember life before TV let alone Internet and Facebook.
We sat around the piano and sang,
We read books,
We wrote letters ,
AND WE TALKED!!
Trying to have a conversation with the grandchildren and thier friends is a real challenge. By the time you delete 'like', 'yer' and 'u-no and 'and like - yer - u-no', there are not many words left in the sentence.
There is only two things worse than thier inability to conduct a sensible conversation is the insistance on using SMS and emails. A friend and his wife were sitting next to each other in our lounge room and she regularly sent him messages and emails throughout the afternoon.

PS Mobile phones are banned at our place on Christmas day. If you have your phone it will have to be put in a nicely turned bowl before you can come inside and left there until you leave.

Yep, I stopped at a red light the other day opposite a bustop and there were about six teenagers there from 13-19 roughly who were all engrossed in their phones. Not one of them talking to anyone else. Sad.

What we did in the old days was listen to the radio. And, still, even with the newest UHD 4K TV sets, the pictures on radio were still better.
