Big problems with Forum
Tonight the Forum is slower than dialup. I'm currently stuck in attachment manager. Pictures are loaded in the manager but when I hit DONE nothing happens. I've just spent an hour or more writing a post and although it auto-saves I can't find it anywhere. Any clues? I'm going insane.

The Woodwork Forum certainly has been slow in the last day or so, I am constantly seeing the message in the bottom left hand corner of the screen "waiting for wodworkforum.com..." and navigating around the forum is painfully slow.
Out of curiosity, I clicked on the link to the Metalwork Forum in the shortcuts box and entered a whole new world in relation to speed of access. Absolutely chalk and cheese (steel and wood?) difference in performance speed wise, I still see the "waiting for wodworkforum.com..." message for a fleeting second before the screen launches into the chosen post, complete with all the photos instantly on view.
I often wander around the Metalwork Forum to check out what the guys are up to, and they certainly are having a better experience speed wise compared to us woodies.
I would have thought both forums were run on the same server and therefore have the same performance, but it appears to be on a totally different platform.
I have not had any problems in typing this as many have had with the quick reply process, I am using a Macbook Pro through Google Chrome.
Something for the boffins to look into, hope it is resolved soon.

Slow on Friday, slower Saturday, Very slow today.
Cleared cache and logged back in - no change, pages can take up to 50 seconds to load. The load bar starts then hangs, moves slightly and hangs again, appears to move in slow spurts.
Auto save can't be found, replied to defective trees post to be told there was an error as the post had to be 3 characters or more.
Using iPad with latest iOS and Safari.Regards,
Bob

Same here for the last 48 hours. The forum is very very slow. More than half a minute after clicking reply to this thread before I was able to start typing.
PC
Win 10
Firefox
All other tabs in the same Firefox window are running at normal speed so it's definitely the forum.
Also, when I'm uploading pics I can only use the "Basic Uploader" which means selecting each pic individually with several clicks, and a maximum of 10 pics per upload. This has been the case for about a week. Previously I have been able to click "Select Files" (which no longer shows a little hand when hovering) and when I go to the folder where my pics are on the PC I could just select all that I wanted in one go.

The guru has been informed about slowness waiting for a fix, may need to reboot server.
Auto-save should comes up at the bottom of the text box when you go back to the thread or post to reply. Clicking on the message Restore auto-saved content should fill the text box with your last saved message or at least up to the last auto save point.
If cache has been cleared the autosave won't work.

Seems to be significantly faster now, but not as fast as normal.
The "Basic uploader" only seems to be rectified too. I didn't actually upload any pics but the "select files" button works now.
Thanks for the engine room work chaps.

Steven's looking into the excess load on the forums. Metalwork and Photo Forums are both unaffected os there's something loading up WWF.

Steven deserves a bonus, or at least an 'Onya mate'!
Speed seems to be back to normal now.
Thanks Neil and Steven.
