I was in a supermarket once and there was a printed and laminated sign on one of the checkouts:
"This checkout is closed due to an unexpected computer error"
I took the sign to the service desk and asked: "If you weren't expecting it, how come you had a printed and laminated sign ready?"
The girl on the service desk did not know what to say so she got a manager who also did not know what to say but she said she would look into it and get me an answer.

The error was expected, but they didn't know when; so they were prepared.
A friend once got a letter several years after it had been sent. It bore an imprint saying. "Found in equipment thought to have been empty." This must happen often enough to have a rubber stamp made.
