    Default False troll accusations ...

....jeeeez, are we all nucking futs !!?!!!?

She's turned out to be a lovely girl. 'Otilia' that is. That newby who started that ' Hello ' thread. And we've all scared her away !!!! We should be all ashamed of ourselves. Well,,,,,,maybe me moreso and that Gumby bloke (don't get personal apricotripper  ) ...... Whatever Gummmmmby

She PM the following just a moment ago....(don't think she'll mind me putting it in here)....

hey there I decided to leave this forum there are loads of nice persons ( like you, but also really sarcastic people and I'm not quite used to this atitutude But, as I liked you, I invite you to join a discussion on Woodworking that I found, and where hopefully there is a more friendly athmosphere) Just don't be mad at me because of the things I'm writing and join me...the thread is at Woodworking , it needs to be animated a bit, but we'll manage somehow) So what do you say? In any case, take care and thanks for the positive atitude, really appreciate it bye!!

Seeeeeee. We shouldn't be so judging eh, eh.

And, good for my ego don't you think ..... I too am better than I look eh, eh.......eh Gumby ?.....EH GUMBY !!!!!!

Sounds like you're in luck. A pretty young girl who wants to take you back to her place!!

I'm sorry this has got to be a joke right. If someone was scared off by what was posted in that thread then they wouldnt have lasted five minutes in here. This is an Australian forum..... expect us to be Australians!

Ps. I agree wholeheartedly with your comments at the end of that post ApricotTripper. Someone who doesn't ask one question about woodwork and only seems to have come in to be 'admired' looks like a troll to me.

If it looks like a troll and acts like a troll, it probably is a troll.

Who knooows,,really,, with all this internet business. Gives you one big mask to hide behind if you want to pretend to be someone else. Makes it understandable I guess, why some people get so suspicious so quickly.

I got exactly the same PM, so I guess:confused:.

Checked out the link: it's another woodworking forum. I think I'll stick around here though. 'Her place' is too far away

You should see my Internet photo, the girls would just drool over me ... I don't put it up so you guys don't get jealous.

Of course, for the few forum members who have met me in real life, I was just wearing a disguise

mmmmm....starting to see that now. Never heard of a spam troll. Did you just now make that up ??? ....But, then again, I didn't know what a troll was until recently.

Still, if I was single,,, in a parallel universe or sorts,,, if she indeed resembles her picture, troll or not, I'd be first in line to try out her spam, wouldn't you ?

Funny, I don't know many women who wouldn't have been offended by some of the comments made in that 'hello' post. Just coz you're an aussie ocker doesn't mean you can be a rude prick at the same time, even if that is part of the territory. Having said that, there were a lot of positive posts too.

Cut her some slack boys. She's a young woman invading what is essentially a man's world and one that can be overbearingly masculine at times - dunno how ruffly, tiki, flea and the others put up with it sometimes. Sheesh, if some of those comments were made at a barbie the perpetrator would probably have been spoken to - by me if it were to a friend of mine. Remember, in a forum, you aren't talking about her, you are talking directly to her - you can't duck behind the apricot tree for a bit of a yarn and a giggle.

As for duplicate PMs. For many modern kids, that's considered normal - one of the aspects of modern society old farts like me get grumpy about.

    cheers
    Richard

No-one holds a gun to my head and makes me read anything you guys dish up. I was raised on the land ... can't get much more masculine than that! I cop the woodwork thing from my friends and family occasionally, but I can handle it. The only thing close to girlie about me is my nail polish!

I think that Otila should have chosen a different avatar if she wanted to be treated respectfully in this forum. After all, I was a bit of a hunk, but I didn't want to distract the female members of the forum by putting up my real picture, when I first joined If she had demonstrated, from behind an anonymous sort of avatar, that she had a real interest in woodworking, and that she was not just an attention-seeker, she could then have wowed us by putting up her real picture, just as Al and Gumby have done. Unfortunately, the ravages of time have now made their mark on me, and if I put my picture up now, I would just be another of those old farts that can be seen in plenty in the Rogues' gallery.
