Retrofit Double Glazing existing window for noise
I'm renovating a small old house on a moderately busy road and have been researching barrier walls, cavity wall insulation and am considering plasterboard options. The windows are timber double hung, 3mm glass. I found many companies that offer another window inside - retrofit double glazing. Companies are magnetite, Just-rite, cozywrap & eco-glaze.
Wondering if anyone has any experience with them - service, effectiveness, cost, quality etc.
Street noise is line of sight so should be able to reduce it significantly. Pointers to other posts on acoustic properties / effectiveness on insulation and barrier wall welcome. Very curious if the increased spend on 'special' plasterboard is worth it also. House will be a flip - but I'll live there for a good while and the noise is driving me nuts - I'm coming from 1000 acres to Newcastle!
