Hi there

Long time reader, first post!

I had a spanning beam installed across an open plan living space. The builder has installed the beam with about 150mm space between the end of the nib wall and the point where the beam bears onto the wall. See the attached photos

I would like to remove the 150 mm between the knife and the end of the nib wall (as it suits my kitchen plans).

Is this a really bad idea? I would be effectively removing the wall so that there is really no extra nib wall for the beam to bear on? Is this normal practice?

cheers guys

Michael
