Steel gate post
Hi, I am repairing our gate. I have a steel 40x40 frame which is 1420 x 1600 already made from years ago. I will be putting 1800 pickets on it. So I estimate the gate itself will weigh approximately 15-20kg as the frame probably weighs 10-15kg alone. I have some old steel posts which are 50 x 50 that I will cut to probably 2000. The gate hinges will be welded on and I'll dyna bolt the posts into the concrete. The post plate are about 90mm on each side.
Will the posts hold up the gate without sagging overtime? Or should I consider getting maybe 25x25 steel for the gate frame (probably the bunnings DIY frame kits?) to reduce some of the weight? Not sure if I will reduce much though?
Thanks.
