Vic Ash table finish - advice appreciated

Hi all,

I have a Vic Ash extendable dining table (image attached) that only has a very fine coating of bees wax at present. The table has two wooden hinges at either end that enables the table to be readily extended at both ends. I would like to achieve a very durable coating but one that does not darken or yellow the wood too much - and also one that is relatively easy to apply and does not have an adverse impact on the hinges. I am thinking of applying Danish Oil (after a light sand) with 2-3 coats. Possibly finish with a bees wax layer. Can anyone please offer advice? Thanks very much.

I really like the kunos countertop finish really hard wearing easy to apply and an easy repair for when your guests kids decide that it's great place write their name with a fork(lol).

The Danish Oil that I have used in the past has given lighter timbers a slight yellow tinge. I have also used wipe on poly satin finish which left the wood looking ok. If you are going to go with Danish Oil then I might suggest that you do a test sample.

The hall table that I made some 8 years ago has weathered quite well with the Danish oil finish.

Like Fubar mentioned the Livos Kunos is a naturalpenetrating finish where any spot repairs are quick, easy and economical toundertake so any accidents are no worries. The Kunos range is also certifiedfood safe with the Kunos countertop being heat resistant too. While theKunos does come in a range of tints ( with the white keeping it similar to itssanded colouring) it also comes in a clear to allow the natural colors tobe highlighted without adding the yellowing of a product layer on top too.
