    If you go here -- https://maps.six.nsw.gov.au/ -- you can compare Sydney in 1943 with now

    I tried that Ian. Seems all I get are fixed maps. Is there something I've missed?

    in the top right hand corner is a button labeled "Base maps"
    Click on the button and select the 1943 maps -- then play with the slider

    The 1943 maps cover Sydney east of about Blacktown
