I've just read a book on Jewish humour and one of the key subjects is the beggar (who is always smart.

A beggar is outside a hotel and asks a rich man who is coming out of the hotel for a dollar to buy a coffee.
'Please, sir. A dollar so that I can buy a cup of hot coffee?'
The guy gives him the dollar but notices that when he puts the dollar into his purse, there is a $50 note.
'Hey, you are begging for a dollar for a coffee and you already have a $50 note!'
'Yeh, but I'm a big tipper!'
