Interior doors, wood rails and stiles but MDF panels with veneer
Folks,
I am talking to a door supplier about new interior doors. They want to sell me doors which are solid Meranti for the rails and stiles but which have panels that are made from MDF with veneer on top. I asked why the panels couldn't be solid wood as well and was told that it was to prevent cracking as the panels will only be 25mm thick. I expressed a concern about swelling with MDF. I have experienced swelling with our existing two external wood veneered MDF entrance doors. I was told that it wouldn't be a problem with interior doors. I intend to stain/varnish the doors not paint them.
I would appreciate feedback please.
Regards.
