repainting a textured ceiling
hi people
i'm after a bit of advice on repainting a ceiling that has been plastered in a texture similar to a stucco or something
the ceiling is in the lounge and we want to keep the look of it but just want to repaint
can i just paint over it?
or is there some other procedure?

When you re-coat try spraying, otherwise you will end up with missed spots, especally if your changing colour

I managed it with a thick/long nap roller and changed colour slightly to ensure complete coverage. It worked out well.

I did this about 2 weeks ago and used a 20mm nap roller on a 270mm rack to make the job a bit quicker. Painting a textured ceiling is also easier because you don't see any minor blemishes as easily as a gyprock ceiling.

ensure you use flat paint too. Nothing looks worse (IMHO) than glossy ceilings. I shudder every time I see one as I think about all the work to sand it back...
