French Polishing Courses - Sydney Area
After having tried to teach myself and failed, I need to find somewhere I can learn French Polishing. I'm about 70km SW of Sydney but will travel to Sydney if needs be. Does anyone know of any courses available - I've tried Googling etc. and a quick search on this Forum but can't find anything.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. If you can't laugh at yourself, you could be missing out on the joke of the century - E.Everidge

G'day. There is a short (2xSaturdays) course being run by Eastern Suburbs Community College at Bondi Public School commencing on 13 August 2005. Do a Google search for the college, or french polishing course and you should be right.
Hope this helps. Steve.

thanks for the reply...
Sounds what I need, unfortunately I will be in Canberra on the first Saturday.
That's how it goes...
I will keep an eye on Community Colleges from now on.
Thanks again.

I also had a lot of trouble teaching myself french polishing, I tried it on my first guitar and it took a long time to get a result I was happy with. I was using shellac flakes that I got from the woodworks in Sydney (Shines brand?). I recently tried Ubeaut hard shellac and got a far superior result just using the stuff neat out of the bottle, no alcohol or oil. A few drops on the muneca and away I went. Excellent stuff! It's all I'll be using from now on.
