Bracing wall, how to attach and what stud grade?
I am about to build a room under the house and require some advice on a ply bracing wall.
The wall will be built out of 90 x 35 pine. the wall is 3m high, 2.4m long. The bottom plate will be fixed using m12 bolts chemset into the slab, between 2 75mm SHS posts
The problem I am having is how to connect the top plate of the wall, as there is no bearer to attach to and the joists of the above floor run with the wall.
What are my options? and what should I be using for the studs? MGP10 or MGP12?
Also, in the image is an unsupported bearer join that has a fish plate on it (there are 4 others under the house that are in worse spots). I have requested that 150 PFC be bolted to the bearer and welded to the posts. Should I get them to weld some tabs to attach to for the brace wall?
