    Default The flowering

Have you all noticed the flowering this year of the Jacarandas, Poincianas and Illawarra Flame trees? Brilliant!!

Also saw heavy flowering in the forest along the newcastle expressway. Not being a resident of that area I don't know what the trees were but the apiarists must be having a picnic!!

One of my favourite plants is the Gymea Lilly. There are any number of these on the way up the Peat's Ridge road. Great to see!!!

Jumped out of the car here in town the other day to be smacked by the distinctive odour of the flowering melaleucas. Great to see them being worked by the native bees.

The Silky oaks (grevillia ) were great around here this year.

I wonder if the country is bedding down for a drought????

Silky oaks and jacaranda flowering together are a great sight. used to see them in the Lancer Barracks at Parramatta.

Just had a photo from a UK friend - the jacarandas are flowering there too. How does that happen??

These are some Jacaranda trees, fortunately around the corner from us.

I say fortunately because when they bloom, the droppings on anything parked underneath is miserable to clean up. They also lift the sidewalks with their roots. Recently, the city replaced all the Jacaranda trees with a less damaging variety of palm trees.

The residents of the street loved it but everyone else hated it.
