Anyone had any experience (good or bad) with these. The new gazebo is slowly getting out of the ground, away from the house among rocks and we prefer it not to become home for any snakes (mostly Eastern Browns around our way).

Some years ago when they first came on the market we put a couple of the repellers in the gardens near the house on the recommendation of others and they seemed to work by generating in-ground vibrations. However yesterday we had a 1 metre Brown chasing a frog through the herb garden, right outside the back door, while the repeller was happily buzzing away!

That particular unit uses a small out of balance motor to generate the vibrations and I have found them to be a bit prone to failure if moisture gets in causing corrosion to the mechanical bits.

So, any views on the electronic buzz type units? I know that Whirlpool was split for and against some time ago, but has technology moved on?
