Newbie to this forum and I'm excited with the content and knowledge that I can gain and share already !!

My question relates to the costs associated in planning for an extension / reno. We are in the planning or initial phases of our extension / Reno and I'm interested in the costs such as;
- architect
- engineer
- town planner
- certifier, DA approval fees etc
- any other associated costs

Extension will consist of extending out towards a side boundary (adding 3 rooms), probably with relaxation approval, changing roof line, changing the roof material, changing the look of the front facade to make it more contemporary (and potentially extending forward slightly) and digging out part of downstairs garage, removing posts etc. so a fairly involved reno.
House is a Qld postwar home in a character precinct, so there are all these restrictions and laws to adhere to.

I'd be keen to hear the ballpark costs and processes to get this through Brisbane City Council and then ready for building. We are just embarking on this project, and am learning as I go and speak to people in the industry.

My understanding is this;
- get plans / concepts drawn up. This will involve, surveyor and architect.
- in order to process the DA, we will need to get a town planner involved as well as building certifier
- get the DA approved
- finalise plans ready for builder and get engineer to do his part
- pray and start to renovate !!

Your inout and experience is appreciated

Thanks
