Simple Huon pine boxes
I had a call from a previous client, wanting a couple of boxes urgently, and as I was low on stock, I decided to make three together. They're all the same simple design - mitred corners, fitted lift-off lids, but sizes vary. The carcasses are all feature grade huon pin from Greg & Mal at Boutique timbers, and the lids are Australian cedar and jarrah.

You do such nice work Alex. Those corners look great.
Can I ask what type/brand of mitre saw you use?

I don't use a saw, I do them on a 12" sanding disc. I mark them out with a marking knife, not cutting too deeply. Set up a fence at 45 deg to the disc, making sure that the table is perpendicular to the disc, and the fence is perpendicular to the table. Sand down to the line marked on the outside of the mitre. As you get to it, you'll get a thin feather peeling off. WHen you get that you've sanded far enough.

huon
I remember that piece! Great work Alex.
FYI, we have decided to exhibit at the Sydney www show. Mal is still pretty 'useless' but getting stronger and wants to come and give orders from his armchair. (I'll put up a separate note later)
He cut up some huon yesterday in readiness, so...... here we go again
