Restoring antique style lamp
I bought a vintage lamp ready to be restored. The lamp have now been dissembled and basically I am having bit and pieces of metal (I believe it is brass as it does not attack a magnet). It appears dipping them onto a sink of some solution should give it a good clean before polishing it with a stuff people called "brassho" or something. The lamp must have stayed in a kitchen before. What is the best solvent to clean dirts on brass without causing harm to such metal? Thanks.
