    Default Mum and Dad exhibition.

Last night was the opening of the Mum and Dad exhibition at the Upstairs Gallery Napier Hotel, Fitzroy. Everyone seemed to love my sculpture. All the pieces except the soldiers, the book and the glass dome I made myself. Either on the lathe or by hand. I ended up painting it all white because the grain pattern was too distracting, even though it was white maple. It is called “Arvo Tea with Mum and Dad”. I think I like it too. Also had a great night out, which is always a plus. (Won't tell you to much about it because I want to know what you guys see in it. )

Hey! Since when do you have the time for knitting? Isn't working you hard enough?

That looks trés cool. I wouldn't like to foot the bill for the bell jar, though.

Bell jar came from Freedom furniture, of all places. $50. They are so, like, "now" man.

I'd say its a little over kill on the white
and the thickness of the class and the point of were it starts to round over makes it not come up 100% in the pic

As for not working for well it's kinda funny how things workout.
I'd say that you were the last to apprentice under one of the most well know and most respected woodturners in Australia.

And that's a chance that only comes around once in a bluemoon.

That's such exquisite work, makes me groan with envy to look at it.
Fantastic effort - well done. All white is far less distracting than grain in this assembly. I can see the grain (yeah, so what?) but I can focus on shape.

Can't get too close. Would have like the white to be a little less paint like. But that its what this piece turned out as.

Yes. You are right there. Although he will probably still teach people. Maybe not take on someone to annoy him everyday in his shed. Cant' speak for though. A little to soon to leave the root. But here I am.

Yes. I put $750 on it. I doubt it will sell. Although many people seemed to really like it. Contemplating putting it in some sculpture comps.

Other crazy ideas percolating up. :S
