    Default news flash

Here in the UK we have just had a news flash that a funeral company in Victoria ,Australia is going to offer burial in the upright position (feet first), I would prefer the old horizontal position so that when the wife is laid to rest she finishes on top.

Waiting a response from ozwinner and brunt. there vics aren't they?

Can't understand why anyone would want to be buried anyway. A thousand years from now some farmer uncovers the grave and your bones get sent to every university who wants to study primitive life.
Next thing you know someone on the discovery channel (circa 3005) wants to make a documentary about a theory that you didn't really die when you got caught in a spindle moulder. You were actually murdered by a chisel weilding evangelist.

Oh........nearly forgot the smiley face so people will know I'm only kidding.

Makes sense to me, takes up less space and holes would be dug quickly and easily (read cheaply) using a large post hole auger. Our local cemetery has only got about half a dozen plots left and the council has been investigating alternative sites for a few years now . Good thing no-ones dying to get a spot!

Mick you are on the right track. The real economy comes into play because you do not need to dig a hole. They just wait until rogor mortise sets in then use a pile driver.

This idea was originaly postulated in the seminal documantary on life in suburban Sydney "Stone". I believe the idea was to be able to meet Satan standing on your feet !!

People living in our town are not allowed to be buried in the local cemetary
I believe that the Shire of Corangamite (Echnidna territory or close) has given the OK for this, also the Beechworth Cemetary has a lot of Chinese miners buried the same way from two centuries ago.

The proposed vertical cemetry is at Derinallum in the north of Corangamite Shire.
People living in Timboon are not allowed to be buried in the vertical cemetry.

Wow; have they started burying people alive in Mexico? Apart from mafiosi, I mean.
