    Default From Black to Oak

Have a satin black lacquer finished buffet which I would like to refinish in an oakish mid brown tone.
Unfortunately this unit has been maintained with Handy Andy which I believe has silicone in it.
Any suggestions about how to successful seal and refinish will be greatly appreciated
    Regards
    Barry

Start by stripping it with a good sharp scraper and paint stripper.
Shouldnt be any handy andy left after its stripped.

    Thanks Bob

Was hoping to get an easyfix method of sealing the current finish and recoating over it. The unit is quite serviceable but the material is not worth a lot of work
By the way the cleaner used was Mr Sheen

The only way I know to turn black to brown is strip and refinish or use brown paint.
