I have used it a couple of times, but not for good jobs. Just for sealing mdf etc before painting, and for unseen things like cupboard backs. I had no trouble with it at all.
For the good stuff, I have always used Ubeaut white shellac.

Bunnings used to sell Snake Gully French Polish and White Polish. Both have worked well for my projects.
Just checked and found I still have some of each unopened in my "stains, oils and polishes" (things that go ka-woof) cupboard. Think its past use-by now.
