Water Dye
Hi,
Hoping you can tell me if there is a difference between your water dye's and the Transtint liquid dyes.
I read an old discussion about the transtint dyes and trying to find a supplier in Australia as they look really good, but as in the old discussion, they dont seem to be available here.
I am looking to through-dye timber veneer and all the info I can find on the process seems to be around the use of these Transtint Dyes.
Any key similarities or differences?
Thanks,
Nathan

I can't answer your query as such, but we've done assorted saddlery & harness repairs in the line of our business, and I learned a loing time ago that there are two types of leather dye-the oil/spirit based Raven Oil type, and the waterbased types.
Apparently the spirit-based ones are better for surface dying, while the waterbased ones are better for dying edge grain. That's if I remember it correctly.
(I tend to use the one type for all purposes though...)
