Are all face shield created equil?

Reading some threads here I have realised I need a full face shield.

But...

What one do I get???

There are Aust Standards that other more in the know than I will tell you what to look for.
But basically you need to decide what impacts you might expect when using it.
eg using a angle grinder on steel will require a high standard rating. whereas washing the car might need one just for low impact but some form of chenical protection.
Full face or half face etc.

I've been googling not much about online sales wise.
I kind of want a do it all one. I grind metal, use a router, circ saw, table saw etc.
Also, just got some Peltor ear muffs so I need something that will fit with them...

I have two of these orange rimmed face masks, one in the van for milling and one in the car.
I got mine from Mitre 10 for ~$40 and well worth it.


The Peltor over-the-head muffs work well with these face shields but the behind the neck ones put on upside down work even better because metal band clips neatly over the faceshield head band adjustment knob behind the head and this clips the muffs and visor together like they were made to do so.

I have and recommend an Armadillo made by prosafe (I think) got it from Blackwoods about $30.00 from memory, there was a post very recently, some smarty posted a pic, I'm not that clever, best all rounder i have ever used.

I also use the Armadillo - I like how the bottom curves a little to provide some protection for your neck.

I am very interested in this thread as wll.
Years ago, I was able to buy a full face shield with ear muffs attached. They were brilliant and aerved me well (too well, but that is another story). BobL could probably use one as well. I did modify one years ago by attaching a set of muffs with cable ties to a face shield. This was OK.
I have been on the look out for another set for many years, but, alas, no luck.
So, if anyone finds some on the net, please post

For a face shield with ear muffs look in your local chain saw shop. Pretty much standard there.

I am afraid not. My stihl dealer has the mesh face shield incorporated with the earmuffs, but not the face shield.
I will keep looking though

Willy I also have the Triton helmet and face shield with in built air flow from a fan and battery pack that can be attached to a belt.



I bought it to mill and resaw dry timber but also find it useful for other operations - like wiping out wasps nests

The shroud can be completely removed so it becomes a helmet/shield/muffs setup.

The muffs are not as good as the Peltor 10A/B's I have but the are still OK.

+1 on the triton. If you can find one. They are not cheap but U wear mine mowing the lawn, stops hayfever and sunburn, and of course in the shed, stops dust dead. They are not as uncomfortable as you might think even in our filthy summer heat and humidity.

Put on Triton helmet and face shield and stare at the nest at 10 paces and wait for the smoke

Seriously;
Purchase nasty long range squirt wasp spray.
Put on steel capped boots, overalls, welding gloves, Triton helmet and face shield.
Wait till late dusk when wasps return to nest
Squirt poison at nest and get ready to run
But it's usually all over in 3 seconds - the spray dissolves/melts the wasps like hot butter.
I have done 2 like this and not a single wasp escaped the treatment. On one nest, early next morning there was a lone wasp hanging around the area of the nest - it probably went out the previous night and stayed with a friend.
