Default What loot did you collect ( from the melbourne show )

Hi all, well the melbourne show has came and went, everyone has had a good time of it, so now I guess we need to find out who scored what.

Myself, I had "deciced" to make it a fairly restrained year this year, damn was I mistaken!

I arrived on friday and tried to restrain myself, I picked up a couple of pieces of SI Queen Ebony, a couple of rare earth magnets from McJ, and a couple of resin blanks from Carrolls.

On Saturday I went looking for a bit of box making timber (never found anything that appealed to me believe it or not) so I consoled myself with some keyring kits, pendant pen kits, a circuit board pen and a pen vice from Addictive.

Sunday saw me at a loose end, and I picked up a couple of T-tracks from McJ, then some Rustins plastic coating, a new pen madrel the adjustable one, then after holding out for 2 years greed finally set in, I got a Tormek wet grinder and the woodturners kit plus and extra guide set.

so much for a restrained week-end.
I try and do new things twice.. the first time to see if I can do it.. the second time to see if I like it

Last year I saw 'the look' when fubar stood staring at the Torque Work Centre. This year I saw it again at Jim Carrol's stand when Kev Y went glassy eyed and did a creditable Homer Simpson version of "Mmmmmmm, Tormek!"

I thought I had got away with sneaking my purchase from the Lie Nielsen stand until I turned around to leave and there was John Saxton, grinning his head off - busted

My daughter and I managed to get the following :

Turning jacket, 2 extra Sorby tool rest stems, 2 Vicmarc face plate rings , roughing gouge and thin parting tool from Carrolls.

Lots of sandpaper and sand paper wad punches to make small disks from Hardware for creative finish.

Mini spindle gouge and japanese saw from Pop's shed.

Some tool steel and vernier caliper from McJings

and ofcourse the new food safe finish from Ubeaut.

Bought over the three days so it didn't seem so much until last night when I counted the receipts , but you guys still beat me.

Dont worry too much Pete, I justified the Tormek with the " he who dies with the most tools.. " mantra

Last year I saw 'the look' when fubar stood staring at the Torque Work Centre
And look what it got me . When I wasnt doing my stints at the forum stand I was with the Torques talking my head off about them and having a great time meeting all those future TWC owners

I only spent half of my money and it all went on Jim Carroll's
stand. Great service - many thanks.

I would have purchased more but there was no room left in
the Forums room ... it was full of stuff purchased by Sturdee,
    Fubar, Groggy and Kev Y.

$250 worth of Tasmanian Myrtle to make a TV unit and 2 small side tables.

Still need to get square section for legs so that might be an excuse for a trip on the ferry to Tassie if the local suppliers cannot help.
