What shape?
Imagine you have a plank of wood.
In that wood there is three holes - a square, a triangle and a circle.
The challenge is to design a solid shape that will pass completely through all three holes (one hole at a time) with a sliding fit.Try to look unimportant, they may be low on ammo.

It could be a cylinder.

Cone - sorry no.
Cylinder - sorry no.
What size triangle, not important. It will become apparent when you know the answer.Try to look unimportant, they may be low on ammo.

A cylinder takes care of the circle and the square, but how to incorporate the triangle? I'm gonna have to think about that.

And a cone takes care of the triangle and the circle
The task was to
"design a solid shape that will pass completely through all three holes (one hole at a time) with a sliding fit."
no mention of it having to be a watertight fit , so ........

Guys, has PM'd the correct answer with a link to the solution. I wasn't aware there was such a link but thank god for because I am a lousy artist.
The object in question has to be a sliding fit, ie slides through with no gaps, through all three.
If you want the answer, PM me and I will fwd you the link sent me.Try to look unimportant, they may be low on ammo.

The shape is a cylinder of height equal to the diameter of the base that has been truncated by two planes that intersect with the base at tangents on opposite points of the circular base, and intersect at the top of the cylinder along the line of the diameter.
Circle, square and triangle...

If the above means nothing to you, the shape can be seen here - Triangle Circle Square
