Help Needed with Bushfire Reconstruction
Help needed volunteers wanted to help next weekend 15-16 May 2010 with helping a family get their lives back together after the devastating Bushfires of last year.
The family lost everything in the fire as did most in the area.
They have since had a house transplanted onto their block but it is at a standstill, and has been for some time.
The task is just too great for them to tackle alone so I have volunteered to coordinate works for them so they can hopefully move into the house a little quicker.
At the moment they are living in two caravans and have been since the fire.
The house is at 1828 Whittlesea/Yea Rd Kinglake West, about 5ks past the KL/West shop, or what was the shop.
Contact Allan 0411 123 931 if you can help at all.
Work will be dusty and tools are required.
More work will be needed in the future if you cant make the dates above.
Details are also here on facebook.
If you cant help maybe you could inform someone who could.
Thanks, Allan

Unfortunately this weekend is not possible for me, despite the fact that I would like to be of assistance to the people both up that way and closer to home who lost basically everything in the fires. I get up that way a bit and see lots of timber which is going to waste that I would love to see transformed into something useable for the aforementioned peoples. hence this thread

Due the top efficiency of those that attended tomorrow is now a sleep in day, we stripped off old weatherboards, inserted bulk insulation then wrapped the house with foil.
Next weekend, 22 and 23 May, we will be starting the sub floor then the frame for the extension, anyone is more than welcome to come along to help.

Yeah its been real fun, lots of my friends died in the fire, lots more lost everything they owned apart from the clothes on their backs.
Its been a living nightmare since Black Saturday 7th Feb 2009 for all involved, me included.
Dont worry, with you living in Belgrave Im sure you will have your turn with all the "fun" eventually.

Please dont reply as how you cant make it for what ever reason, it just makes you look like a total loser.
Just be there if you can help out as all those ppl affected by the fires still need as much help as possible.
