    Default Something old...something new

My mother recently aquired this table from her parents ( my grandparents) and it was a table made by her brother while at tafe, He was killed in 1972 in a car accident and the table sat idle in the shed for many years, she asked me to repair it for her around 12 months ago.... any way being a love job i thought i would restore it in time for mothers day ,
So the table is basically ply with veneered marquetry featuring timber species of qld walnut, red cedar and i think silver ash? pine cabriole legs and and veneerd skirt ,any way i rebuilt the bottom skirt and stripped and restained the legs in walnut, the top was stripped ,damaged or lifting veneer was stripped and replaced, color matches made and was then a hand rubbed french polish applied, although not of any significant value( sentimental for sure ) I'm sure my mum will love it and my little apprentice thinks it great.
