please help re finding period style details
Hi,
I am wondering if anyone knows of a great website or book to help me research the various period styles of doors/windows/handles/etc etc, as Im trying to renovate with 'sensitivity' to my house's era. I have a beach shack (am slowly removing all asbestos and recladding with timber weatherboards) in coastal Vic that was built in the 1940's/50's. At the moment I want to put a fly screen door at the front and although Im drawn to a more federation style timber screen with simple detailing, I think its probably more 50's to have a curly, ornate wrought iron type. Im not too much of a stickler, and as it was built during/post war I believe people built with whatever materials they could get their hands on as things were pretty scarce, so there are quite a few different styles that arent completely inappropriate. I find it all very interesting and really just want to find a resource to refer to when stuck (like now)!
Kind thanks to all.
