Roofing bridge "stays" - still needed?
Pictured are some stays I have in my roof....

I think they put them in when they are building (45yrs ago) and just left them up there.
Being such small cross section I assume they are for tension but dont seem to do much in that regard as they are a little bent ....maybe just age - maybe some sort of comptression force, but they dont seem to have any load on them - particularly as they are quite bent and any compressive force would simply fold them.
They're attached to the 2x10" ceiling hanger, so that's not really a structural anchor point.
They reduce acess a little and I was thinking of take them out.
