Hi all,

I have another question about framing that I am struggling with. I am building in underneath my house and have completed the external framing and am now doing the internal framing.

Some of the walls run perpendicular to the floor joist above, (supporting the flooring upstairs), so I assume that the top plate will simple fix to the floor joists? Am I correct in that?

My real question is what to do when the internal wall runs parallel and between floor joists. Do I fix the top plate directly to the floor above? I can't see this as being structurally sound. If not then how and where do I attach the top plate? Do I need to build something under the joists to attach the top plate to?

Hope the question makes sense.

Thanks

Frank
