suppliers of timbers other than merbau, pine and standard hardwood.
I am looking for someone east of melbourne who stocks timbers such as blackwood, sassafrass, myrtle, mahogany etc. Basically anything that looks half decent. Locally ALL I can find are the standard pine, "hardwood" and merbau decking, (standard bunnings/mitre 10/ Dahlsens selection) and no one will rip boards to sizes I require. ARE there any real timber merchants around any more or has uniformity and mass production killed them all off? Or do I have to find someone with a lucas mill and find some trees to get milled?

There is a woodworkers group in Warragul that is quite active. They may have other contacts for you.
I do not have a contact but if you ask locally someone will know.Tom
