    Default G'day from FNQ

Been reading bits of this forum off and on for a while now, so I thought I'd take the plunge and start putting my 2c worth in.

I live at Mission Beach in Far North Queensland (1.5hrs south of Cairns) although I'm from Melbourne originally. We're on a "wet tropics" cattle property. (we get about 3.5 metres of rain a year so humidity does present a challenge at times.)

My father was an old style cabinet maker so I must have cought the "wood thing" when I was watching him and "helping" when I was a little tacker. Starting to get a little bit more spare time now so I want to start messing around with wood again.

We have about 180 acres of tropical rainforest on our place so I'm hoping to harvest some timber now and again. We have lot of Silky Oak, Maple, Black Wattle, Leichhard, Cedar and a whole lot of other stuff I don't even know what it is.

Must say there sure is a wealth of info here, so I'm loooking forward to learing lots and contributing what little I know.

    Cheers
    Chris

Welcome Chris, and don't forget to drop into the timber sections of the forum where the guys are into sawing up trees into slabs.

G'day Chris and welcome to the show!!

I envy you having such a patch of rainforest - or is it jungle? - on your property.
