Treated Vs Cypress Pine
Hello all, (I'm a newbie)
I'm having a deck built with a gabled pergola and exposed posts (approx 1300 high above deck) to attach Glass panels for spa fencing with S/S 'D" clamps. The builder has suggested that I use Cypress pine for all the posts (and stumps), but the timber supplier has suggested I use treated pine as the Cypress will over time form cracks in the surface and or twist. All the timber will be stained with an 'Intergrain' product like 'NaturalStain' to achieve a similar look as the Merbau decking boards.
Previously on decks I have built, the posts have been treated pine and been painted with no issues.
Doe anyone have any preference as to which I should use, and if so why?
Does one look better than the other when stained?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Tim
