Cleaning up old window frames
We have bought a house that has not been very well looked after and the silicone/filler stuff around the windows is cracked and crumbling. We've also noticed mouldy spots on the inside of the sill paint, i'm figuring moisture is getting in due to the crumbling silicone stuff. My action plan is to remove as much of the silicone as I can, clean the sills with bleach to get rid of the mildew, sand and prime the sills, paint and then re-silicone. Is this the best way to go about it? And do I need to do anything special with the mildrew on the paint?
