Looks like V8 Supercars live coverage on TV is going......
Channel 10 the home of "motorsport" according to their advertising....BUT no live V8's from Perth this weekend unless you have pay TV..
While I'd prefer an afternoon in the shed making toys, I also like to sit and watch the V8's BUT now only a very poor highlights later in the evening....
I've seen some comments "take V8's back to channel 7", but it doesn't matter who has it just as long as it's live or even delayed broadcast on the free to air TV....
What do you think??
Cheers, crowie

Sorry Crowie. Car racing does not interest me but I would feel the same as you if cricket was being taken off the tele.

Same with the MotoGP.
They used to show all 3 races in previous years.
Now you only get the group 1 race, groups 2 and 3 are no longer shown.
I thought all the extra digital channels was so they could show more entertainment.
Seems its only for more Home shopping junk ads.

Peter, V8 Supercars sold out to the highest bidder, they have shot themself in the foot, lousy camera work ,poor commentary, not live when interstate, I will NEVER pay for Foxtel. Heard on the radio , if you want to see the big fight in Las Vegus , Foxtel fee, $60 . John.

Why on earth would you want to show V8s when you could show repeats of last weeks' 'The Biggest Idol Masterchef Looser on the Block' reality TV programming, or endless back to back repeats of The Brady Bunch and The Simpsons?
Broadcast TV lostmemy wallet as a viewer 15 years ago. If anything, Netflix is looking way more enticing than anything the local encumbents come up with.

Maybe V8's are also a bit worried. If I were them I'd be keeping my fingers crossed the cheques keep coming.

Who wants to watch TV when you can watch glue dry, finish cure or this forum load up?
I sympathise with the V8 fans I had to miss 2 F1 races because of the same mob.

I feel the whole V8 fiasco with regards pay TV would need to improve to be regarded as pathetic.
Pay TV, and they have the hide to put adverts on it as well, ain't going to happen for me. As far as the promoters are concerned, they have put their heads between their legs and kissed their proverbials goodbye.Regards,
Bob

Every time this happens, I've watched less and less. A huge fan just turns off.
AFL - nope
Formula 1 - nope
V8's - nope
I now don't watch any TV - FTA or paid.
The actions of corporations legitimises piracy.
"Pay or else!" they cry... I've willing embraced "else".

It's not really a problem since there won't be any Aussie V8's soon anyway. CAMS will be able to sell another set of TV rights to a new generation race format.

Bring back V8's to Chanel 7
I get more done in the shed these days, thanks to the stupid decisions by the V8 Supercar dopes. I used to have the TV in the shed going in the background, and stopped work to watch the first few laps and lots of distractions during the race.
These days, no TV in the shed, more work done, and I don't think the highlights segment on at night is any patch in watching it live.
As for the Grand prix's, only televising every second race on free to air means I only see every second race, and starting to lose interest in this aspect of the sport. No way will I be paying Foxtel heaps of dollars a month to watch a few hours of motor racing, especially when they still have adverts in the broadcast. (Should that be narrowcast?)
As for going to a V8 race, try looking up ticket prices on their website, especially if you only want to go on the Sunday. They made it so hard to extract money from my pocket, I gave up, and apparently saved a fortune.

These day's nothing else matters but the dollar.
Who ever is willing to pay the most, get's the gig,
as per v8 supercars.. and eventually AFL football.

As dropsaw said, this is only the start . All popular sport will go this way. I am with others in that Foxtell won,t be getting any of my dollars,

From a selfish point of view, I don't care if the NRL or AFL go the same way as I stopped watching these games / sports when they became a TV show instead of a game.
The huge amounts of $'s involved turned attendances from the ordinary to the exclusive well heeled pockets. Not too many Mums, Dads and kids can really follow their teams through a season.Regards,
Bob
