Water pooling in Deck post holes...problem?
I have started the construction (finally) of what my wife and I have been calling the superpit at the back of our house - after months initiation reading these forums - thanks to everyone who participates and gives advice - it is very useful to dopes like me.
It is an excavated area and has a slope behind it (mostly covered by the house and covered carport area) that I am building a retaining wall (approx. 400mm-1m above ground level along 3.2m) that will form part of a seat that will adjoin the deck.
Problem is - I have excavated 4 holes approx 800mm down for 150mm x 100mm posts and there is about 40-50mm water in the base of the holes that have now collected over a few hours. It hasn't rained but my wife was using the Karcher at the front of the house and thinks it may be groundwater from that.
Regardless, should I be concerned, I was going to put 100mm of crushed up concrete roof tiles in the base (instead of metal) before pouring concrete anyway??
Any advice much appreciated....
