Can I join my decks and dynabold joists into brick
Please help with me your wealth of knowledge.
I'm building my first deck project, it will essentially be decking for 3 areas.
I have drew a diagram in paint as this is the only tool I have available.
I have the ledger attached to the brick with dynabolts and will be using joist hangers to attach the joist to the ledger, the joists will sit on top of the bearers.
In my area, I have brick work right around where I want to build my deck, see deck 1 in the diagram. Because Joist 1 (see diagram) will sit right agains the brick wall I can't use a joist hanger on the ledger and will be hard to skew nail the joist on one side of the bearer.
1. Can I dynabolt that joist into the brick? will this cause any issues with movement if I do this since I have a ledger attached? I will also have to do this on Joist 2, Joist 3, Joist 4(see diagram)
2. Deck 2 is going to be laid adjacent to deck 1 and deck3, should I join all 3 decks in anyway like join the frames together or use joist hangers to join the joists from deck 2 to joist 1 from deck1? Or is it better to keep the frames seperate?
Thanks.
