Finish for Huon Pine Table
Looking for information on a non-yellowing lacquer for use on table tops.
In particular for use on Huon Pine?
Have previously used Wattyl Stylwood, but found it a bit yellow.

All finishes yellow to some degree. The least yellow (as Steve suggested) is probably dewaxed shellac. I've used the UBeaut stuff on Huon Pine and it does look terrific.

Thanks everyone for the information, I will have to give shellac a try.
I was looking for a spray lacquer as I don't think the shellac will stand up to the ravages of my children.

Hard (dewaxed) Shellac should do the job nicely. It won't darken the colour of the timber any more than wetting it down with water (almost everything else will).
If you want something that "will stand up to the ravages of your children" I suggest you get a harder timber for the table or teach the children to respect your furniture.
You should also be aware that the houn is going to yellow quite dramatically with age and in a couple of years will be as dark as teak and if not properly maintained and cared for could easily become a disgusting, dark, dirty mess.

I believe there is a product sold in Tas called Huon Pine Oil (or something like that) It might be worth a try if you can find some.
