Smile G'Day Mates!! Watchya all a doin'?

    G'Day Mates,

My name is Elwood (Woody) Beauchamp (Bee-chum) {English Orgin}. I am 59 years old. I live in the North Mississippi area, 46 Kilometers from the Birthplace of Elvis Presley and 80 Klicks from his Memphis Mansion, Graceland...Beautiful place, btw.

I spent 8 years in the US Navy as an Aviation Machinist Mate...Jet Engine Tech. and made it to Rome, Italy (was in Vatican Square and the Pope came out on his balcony and Blessed us), Singapore and Hong Kong on one of my WestPac tours aboard the Aircraft Carrier Saratoga, CV-60, 1971-1972. Upon our Departure from the Philippines, we petitioned the Chief of Naval Ops to allow us to return via Australia and Southern tip of South America...couldn't fit the Panama Canal...

After my Service time and until now, I worked as a Government Employee and learned to weld and use a wide variety of wood and metal working tools and machines. At that time I joined the US Navy Reserve and became Loadmaster in a Squadron of 4 DC-9 aircraft..made it to Athens, Greece, Paris, France, Frankfurt, Germany and Turkey, Portugal, Spain and other world ports.

I have built Armored Cars (actually trucks), bottled Hot Sauce, Aerosal Starch, Molasses, Mrs. Butterworth's Pancake Syrup.

I machined and welded parts for FedEx to build a conveyor system(actually 144 of 'em) so when Diet Coke was first sold in stores and markets, Coke wanted them delivered, millions of cases of em, "Absolutely Overnight"...pretty cool to have had a hand in..also welded up a few private planes, friends of my machine shop boss' friends.

I became a Medical First Responder upon joining the local Fire Dept. after moving to Mississippi, went on to become a Licensed Emergency Medical Tech.(EMT) and was Voted to Assistant Chief on the Fire Dept. also voted President of the County's EMR Association...

During the last years of work as a Machinist and Custom Machine Builder, I was privelaged to build Automated work cells with Robots that Palletized, Optically Picked and assembled Medical products and the last cell we built was a Fanuc Robot with a Router as the End of Arm Effector (tooling) that cut the top access hole (and some smaller holes) for the assembly of home Water Treatment units. Plastic chips looked like a Blizzard when at 100% Feedrate...cool...LOL

I slipped in an oil puddle in an isle at work a few years ago, now Disabled and living off the Government as is my wife as well...fixed income...sux...at least we don't need physical help..just can't kick very high at all...

I was referred to this Forum by a good Mate in NSW. We have known each other over a couple years now, and have a common interest: He finds CNC and Router parts for a good deal here in the States, and I collect them and repack them in Post Boxes at a good discount...9 Kilos for about 83 AUD.

I'll post around to give folks a chance to save some of their hard earned $$$, or to buy items in the USA for a good price and not get raped on shipping.

It's not like I've anything else to do. I have found my service is much appreciated and I've mailed over 100 boxes since a good Mate, also in NSW, bought some of my Machining tools on eBay, and asked me if I would be interested in collecting some items as he bought them and consolidate them into smaller boxes and mail them to him.

At first thought "this guy is trying to scam me, somehow...however, we are the best of Mates now. This link is on the Forum at CNCZone...I think I can be a great help if you want anything from the States shipped to you..."http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?p=358331#post358331"

Actually, if you scroll up when you get there, several other posts will be of interest as well.

I don't have a website now, just limiting "Selling Stuff" to AVG Internet Security Subscriptions

I'm here watching the screen most of every day...I'll answer as quick as I can...

    Best regards to all.

    Woody

    Welcome "Woody",

You have given me enough reading material to last me
a week. However, you forgot to mention what time of
day you were born and what the weather was like near
    the hospital.

Plenty of friends in the system here and loads of information
to be gained. Hope you enjoy the experience.

G'day Woody, and welcome. Your life experience reads like a book - were you able to spend good time in all those foreign ports, or were some simply short visits. My OS visits have all been to parts of Asia. I enjoyed the peoples I had contact with and very much enjoyed the food. Hell, it's 30 years ago since my last trip (I must be getting old).

    Welcome to the forum.

There is something here to suit just about everyone who makes or restores/repairs stuff.

I will never be the person who has everything, not when someone keeps inventing so much cool new stuff to buy.

From an early age my father taught me to wear welding gloves . "Its not to protect your hands son, its to put out the fire when u set yourself alight".

Hi Soth...Thank you for your comments. I did get to spend the better part of 2 weeks in each of the ports we visited. I really enjoyed the experience of interacting with the local people, even tho most of the time neither of us understood any but hand gestures...the FOOD!!! Nothing like the "Authentic" Cuisine restaurants here in the states...

    A G'Day to ya...

Hi Claw Hama...I am getting back into my woodworking, but now that I have all day to do it, the $$$ are tight...especially now that our $$$ is shrinking...

I'll post photos in a few days...gotta get the Big dog(actual dog) to the groomer in an hour...trying to respond to all the great welcome notes from everyone...I feel like I should know everyone...

    Have a terrific day, Mate.

Hi artme...Thanks for the welcome note. Sorry about the "Cramps"...just figgured I'd empty my "bag" at the get-go and no-one would be wondering what my history holds. Still lots of stories between each item I wrote of, but I won't bore folks with those details again.

I honestly Have considered writing a book about my life experiences...after all, whatever your accomplishments in life are kinda meaningless unless they are shared with someone else...kinda like the Router...what is the back-story of the guy/gal who, one day, decided to mount a bit to the shaft of a motor of some sort, and proceded to cut their name in a board...each time you used your Router, you would have a little different admiration for "John Doe", inventer of the modern Router....maybe...

    Best O' th' Day, Mate.

Crikey Woody, You've been blessed, I just dodge lightning.

Welcome.. I'm new too. I was a tour guide in a previous life and been to those places ya mentioned... did you notice any timber slabs there for sale.. I forgot to look.. to busy looking at other talent!!!

I tried to buy a Makita rotary hammer drill (HR5211C) off the net the other day and couldn't believe the Makita factory outlet prices, but this shop is in your land. You can buy a smal sedan cheaper than that drill over here in Nth Queensland (Discounted to $1275.00). Didn't want to risk buying a power tool from overseas. Have you got access to cheap stock!!! I like ya already

    Cheers
    Paul
