Hi guys.

Very old wooden home with a couple of wooden casement windows that were in bad shape from water damage from having a leak run down them for a long time whenever it rained. Just so you know what I'm talking about, here's a pic of an identical set that just need painting and don't have to be replaced:

I removed both of the damaged Windows, cleaned, straightened and repainted them, and recaulked the glass.

The top and bottom stays on both windows were in very bad shape so I decided to replace them with new stays purchased from Bunnings. Couldn't get identical stays as apparently that size isn't made any longer. Bunnings guy told me the new smaller ones would be fine.

Track length of existing stay = 250 mm. Apparently the only replacements now are either 200/300/400 mm. I bought the 200 mm on the assumption that would save me from having to do any more wood gouging.

Here is a shot of the old and new side-by-side.

Even though the old and new are different sizes and slightly different designs I figured I would be able to find a YouTube video on how to fit the new Whitco stays. No such luck – haven't been able to find a relevant video anywhere.

If I can help it I don't want to spend a lot of time experimenting and doing the wrong thing so I hoped I might get some useful directions from you guys.
