G'day all..
Hi All,
I recently moved to the Bendigo area and hope to get my shop set up as soon as the house reno is completed. I worked as a furniture maker in the San Francisco area for several years doing custom "one-off" contemporary designs as well as custom Arts and Crafts style. I've also done some kitchen cabinetry but I REALLY dislike melamine and worked with hardwood ply and bamboo ply only. I guess that market doesn't really exist here. I'm really looking forward to making stuff again and finding out where to get timber. If I had known it was going to be this tough, I would have "lost" some of the wife's shoes and added more timber to our shipping container!
Great forum!!

Welcome to the forum.
Are you crazy loosing your wifes shoes. That just gives her the excuse to purchase more.
I think like most guys we only a few pairs of shoes. One black pair for work. One pair of runners for general walking. One pair for tennis. One pair for the work shop. Half a dozen for fishing (rock hopping) some with cleats attached.

G'day & welcome Goldfields
When the word gets out that you're doing kitchen cabinets in hardwood & bamboo there will be a market for your work.
Don't give up too soon.
Gerard

Thanks for the encouragement Gerard. I'm sure I'll feel better once I can make some sawdust again. Plaster dust is nowhere near as rewarding!
