Sunlight proof clear paint?
Is there such a thing? I once again need to repaint our external timber doors, as the previous finish has disappeared again after about 5 years or so...
Most pigmented paint seems to last 10 to 20 years here.
Anyone have any good ideas or should I just grin and bear it every 5 years until I'm too old to open a can of paint...Cheers,
Joe

Thanks for that. I checked it out and it is only suitable indoors (not UV stable). Apaprt from that it sounds OK. Very similar or the same as Estapol Urethane 2-pack clear.
Cheers,
Joe

5 years or so is a good run out of a clear finish, I think you have done well.

Three I can think right off my head: UV Polyurethane, Epoxy with a UV stabiliser added in, and 2-pack automotive clear.

Marine spar varnish. Not quite clear but slightly amber.

3 coats of Sikkens Cetol Marine Teak, and a final coat of Sikkens Cetol Marine Gloss.
(Note: the Marine products - NOT the Cetolol from Bunnings)
You will still need an annual maintenance coat - light sanding & a coat of clear.
There are NO magic clear exterior finishes.
