Red Cedar Windows Cracking
Hi All -
I'm looking at buying a home which has a lot of really beautiful red cedar windows and doors - not sure what type exactly, but they look exactly the same as a red cedar door I put on my last home.
On the inside of the home they look brand new - but most of them that have been exposed to the sun are very grey, flaky and have small cracks in. They have not increased at all in size however so they dont appear to have taken in water.
The owner says they were put in three years ago with a major renovation the home had - so I'm guessing it has been three years since they had any protection applied.
Can I somehow restore them to their former glory - or do I just need to find a paitn colour that is about the same as the timber is on the outside?
As you can see on the picture of the top of the windows - there was no flashing placed on top of the windows either which is a little disconcerting.
Any ideas?
Thanks...
