Hit the nail on the head.

They are the most unsociable item ever invented
    in my opinion.

And to think they were invented so that people
could converse with each other. (lol).

but they do converse with each other and everyone on the bus can hear one side of the conversation.

    Did you know:
    Anne isn't talking to Lisa
    Margaret is pregnant
John slipped while mowing the lawn and had to have six stitches in his leg.

Walked past a local coffee shop the other day. Four people sitting at an outdoor table , all of them head down, fingers busy on their smartphones. At least they were doing it together.

Apparently Anne isn't talking to Lisa because Lisa didn't tell her that she knew it was John that got Margaret pregnant. And John didn't really cut his leg while mowing the lawn, he cut it climbing back over the fence when Margaret's husband unexpectedly came home early from work. Evidently, John was cutting someone else's grass so I guess there is some truth to it.
