I'm new to the forum, and have thoroughly enjoyed it since first discovering it. Like DanP, I tend to avoid making a comment in a woodworking board. But this isn't because I'm not interested or because I don't want to engage with others in a mutual interest. It's more in deference to the wealth of knowledge out there. In a way typical of an "apprentice", I'm trying to learn by watching and listening. This forum, from what I can see, replicates any meeting of people who share a mutual interest: the object of interest only forms a part of the conversation. I think the mixture's spot on, and the humour, knowledge of woodworking, wood, mechanics, metalworking, tools, computing (any other stuff I can't think of now) is amazing and impressive. Sometimes self reflexivity can be a negative experience. I think the forum deserves a pat on the back.
