OK, enough of this fol de rol. Freddie made some runs, so the pitch is the best he's played on. (see? I told ya I was good.) No Hoggard, so who's going to take the wickets apart from Panesar . All out for 320. Oz bats all day and half tomorrow, total of 550. England, overcome by the heady heights of 230 play as though they're invincible, all out for something forgettable. End of game. Whitewash m'man.

    Regards,

My prediction for today is: Poms all out in the hour after lunch for around 360.
    Australia 2/150 at stumps.

    After lunch?

    I don't think so Craig!

By the way, with all that nonsense talk about Warne on another thread, no one it seems has mentioned the passing of John Buchanan. It's his last test today.

I believe he has the greatest record of any coach in the game, and will be very surprised if the team performs at the same level in his absence. Fortunately for his replacement, the honeymoon period will have the press blaming the absence of Warne, McGrath et al rather than the change of coach!

    Cheers,

    P

Surely even the Poms can hold on until after lunch on that track.

Midge, is it the coach or the players that have made the Aussie team what it is today?

If John Buchanan had coached the Australian team between '83-'86, I don't think his record would be all that crash hot.

    Grunt,

I'm fond of reminding all that it's a TEAM game, and in this case, the coach IMHO is a vital part of the team.

He's the bloke that's instilled the "Champion Team" mentality, rather than the "team of champions" thing that made the Windies with all their superstars so erratic.

Who has been behind the brutal approach to opening? The bullying run rates?

Surely you're not going to say that it's blokes like Haydon and Symonds doing it alone?

    Cheers,

    P

Symonds? Geez that's drawing a long bow Midge, even by your standards.

My after lunch prediction is looking decidedly dodgy.

The Australian team has only had 3 coaches, Simpson, Marsh and Buchanan.

Fast scoring is not a recent invention, the Invincibles also often scored at 4 runs per over (adjusted to a 6 ball over).

Do you think Symonds had something to do with that?

Three to go, an hour before lunch, and it would appear that the best score so far this series for the last FIVE wickets, is fifty something.

    Cheers,

Do you mean erratic in the sense that sometimes they won by an innings and 4 wickets, and at other times only by 4 wickets.
If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.
