Wall plaster breaking away at cornice join
Hi,
I've had a bit of a look around and from the searching I've done so far can't seem to find a thread that necessarily answers my query.
My house is about a 1990 build in Perth and is double brick and tile (like most over here). I purchased it in 1994. At this point in time there are a number of rooms where the wall plaster is cracking and falling away where it joins the cornice. I'm guessing that there is movement in the roofing timbers which may have been a bit green at the time of build and is the underlying cause of this. I've deliberately not attempted to do anything about repairing the cornice-to-wall-joints for this length of time on the assumption that the movement will become less over time as the timbers season.
See the attached example photograph.
What is the best way to go about filling the lost plaster and what can I do to minimise any damage in the future?
Chris
